Part-Time Grocery Clerk

About the role

Join the Metro team at Food Basics as a part‑time Grocery Clerk in Ottawa. You will play a vital role in keeping the store well‑stocked, organized and welcoming for customers, while working within a unionized, permanent environment.

Key responsibilities

• Unload deliveries and store products in the backroom or cooler.
• Restock shelves, ensuring items are placed in the correct locations.
• Rotate stock using the first‑in, first‑out method.
• Maintain clean aisles, shelves and overall store appearance.
• Sweep and mop floors as needed and promptly address spills.
• Assist customers in locating products and answer product‑related questions.
• Help customers load groceries into their vehicles when required.
• Conduct periodic inventory counts and report discrepancies.
• Receive product invoices and verify accuracy.
• Set up and maintain promotional displays, end caps, signage and price tags.

Required profile

• Ability to work flexible shifts including days, evenings and weekends.
• Physical capability to lift and move merchandise.
• Willingness to follow union collective‑agreement guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and safety.
