Operating Room Registered Nurse – Grande Prairie Hospital

About the role

Join the newly opened Grande Prairie Regional Hospital as an Operating Room Registered Nurse. You will work in a dynamic surgical environment supporting a wide range of specialties, including urology, orthopedics, ENT, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, bariatric, and oncoplastic procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Provide peri‑operative nursing care for patients undergoing surgery in the operating suite.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and support staff to ensure safe, efficient procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique, manage surgical instruments, and monitor patient vitals.
• Document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with AHS standards.
• Participate in patient education, discharge planning, and postoperative follow‑up.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.
• Eligibility for a provisional practice permit or full RN licence.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and on‑call days.

Required skills

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS‑HCP).
• Medication Management as defined by CRNA training.
• Operating Room nursing procedures and sterile technique.
