Mining Drill & Blast Technician

About the role

Reporting to the Drill and Blast Engineer, the Mining Drill & Blast Technician designs blast patterns, generates loading instructions and determines blast timing to ensure safe, environmentally responsible and efficient coal extraction. The role follows a 4‑day on‑4‑day off shift schedule in the Elk Valley, British Columbia.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
• Collaborate with mine operations, engineering, survey and geology teams to design efficient blast patterns.
• Generate loading instructions and determine optimal blast timing to maximize coal recovery and waste‑rock fragmentation.
• Support on‑site nitrate management initiatives.
• Implement standard methodologies related to drilling and blasting.

Required profile

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; effective both individually and as a team player.
• Strong analytical, logistical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize demands in a fast‑paced environment.
• Basic digital literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent).
