About the role
This 8‑month co‑op position supports Gerdau's Maintenance & Reliability team at the Selkirk, Manitoba site. You will gain hands‑on experience in mechanical engineering tasks, working alongside experienced engineers and contractors.
Key responsibilities
- Update equipment and facility drawings to reflect current configurations.
- Collaborate with external vendors, consultants, and contractors on various projects.
- Assist engineers on capital‑expenditure improvement initiatives and manage smaller non‑capex projects.
- Plan maintenance activities, order required parts, and contribute to design projects.
Required profile
- At least two years completed toward a Mechanical Engineering degree from a recognized university.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 (preferred 3.0 or higher) and a record of academic achievement.
- Experience with SolidWorks; familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
- Leadership experience in student organizations or extracurricular activities.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without sponsorship.
- Strong verbal and written communication, detail‑orientation, and ability to work independently.
Required skills
- SolidWorks design software.
- AutoCAD (beneficial).
