About the role
Gerdau is offering a co‑op/internship for an Electrical Engineer to join its Reliability Team at the Selkirk, Manitoba site. The role provides hands‑on experience in electrical engineering within a leading steel producer.
Key responsibilities
- Update equipment and facility drawings.
- Assist engineers on capital‑expenditure improvement projects and manage smaller non‑capex projects.
- Work with external vendors, consultants, and contractors.
- Support electrical planners, plan electrical jobs and order parts.
Required profile
- At least two years completed in an Electrical Engineering degree program.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 (3.0 preferred) and strong academic record.
- Leadership experience in student organizations or extracurricular activities.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.
Required skills
- Experience with AutoCAD design software.
- Familiarity with PLCs and automation (beneficial).
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Detail‑oriented, organized and able to work independently.
