About the role
Proxxi Technology Corporation is seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer to own all mechanical aspects of its wearable safety devices. This is a solo, full‑time contributor role responsible for everything from enclosure design to tooling and manufacturing, working closely with the CTO, Head of Manufacturing and an external industrial design contractor.
Key responsibilities
- Translate industrial‑design concepts into production‑ready CAD models, defining parting lines, draft angles, wall thickness, ribs, bosses and snap‑fits.
- Perform tolerance stack‑up analysis and ensure IP67 waterproofing using gaskets, O‑rings, adhesives or ultrasonic welding.
- Create mold tool drawings, specify gate locations, ejector layouts, cooling channels and cosmetic finishes.
- Lead DFM reviews, GD&T application, assembly sequence definition and error‑proofing.
- Design jigs, fixtures and test rigs for assembly, testing and quality control.
- Develop manufacturing processes, manage mold maintenance, tool‑life and yield improvement.
- Support NPI at contract manufacturers, including EVT/DVT builds, first‑article inspection and yield ramp‑up.
- Define and execute mechanical test plans (drop, vibration, water ingress, UV, chemical resistance, abrasion) and maintain FMEA based on field data.
- Set up and manage a prototyping workshop equipped with 3D printers, CNC machines and hand tools.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (MSME preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in consumer electronics or wearable device development.
- Proven track record taking injection‑molded products from design through tooling to mass production.
- Hands‑on NPI experience with contract manufacturers, including pilot builds and first‑article inspection.
