Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Vard Marine is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of specialized vessels, including polar research ships and offshore patrol vessels. You will work within a global engineering team to deliver reliable, high‑performance marine systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations using empirical formulae and first‑principles.
• Conduct HVAC calculations according to industry and marine standards.
• Prepare and modify mechanical/diagrammatic drawing packages for Classification Societies.
• Provide technical input for specifications and drawings.
• Carry out engineering studies, technical evaluations, and analyses.
• Apply basic knowledge of Classification Society Rules and Flag State Regulations.
• Support project managers and act as second‑in‑command on smaller projects.
• Participate in cross‑functional groups and ensure clear communication within budget and deadlines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
• 0–5 years of post‑graduation experience in a relevant industry.
• Basic understanding of marine engineering systems and classification requirements.
• Willingness to be mentored and to contribute to team initiatives.

Required skills

• Engineering calculation methods.
• HVAC design and analysis.
• AutoCAD for mechanical drawing preparation.
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of Classification Society Rules and Flag State Regulations.
