Mechanical Engineer – Industrial Projects

About the role

CBCL is looking for an Intermediate or Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Industrial Engineering team in Fredericton, NB. The role involves designing and delivering sustainable mechanical solutions for pulp and paper, manufacturing, energy and other industrial projects from concept through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or support design projects for pulp and paper, manufacturing, power plants, fuel storage, pipelines and boiler systems, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction.
• Act as Project Manager on multi‑discipline initiatives, managing scope, budget, schedule and deliverables.
• Provide technical direction, peer review and mentorship to design staff across disciplines.
• Liaise with clients to guide design decisions and align with project requirements.
• Contribute to business development and proposal preparation.
• Oversee construction administration, field reviews and commissioning activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering and eligibility for P.Eng. registration in Canada.
• Minimum five years of experience designing mechanical systems or working on industrial projects, preferably in pulp and paper, manufacturing or power generation.
• Experience with mill mechanical systems, rotating equipment, pumps, pressure vessels, tanks, steam and condensate systems is an asset.
• Strong communication, organization and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel within Atlantic Canada.
