Mechanical Engineer – Automation & Robotics

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic team near Tecumseh, ON. The role focuses on designing and delivering custom automated machinery, robotic cells, and material handling equipment for industrial customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop automated machinery, robotic cells, assembly systems, conveyors, and material handling equipment.
• Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials using CAD tools.
• Collaborate with controls, electrical, software, manufacturing, and project management teams throughout all project phases.
• Perform engineering calculations, component selection, tolerance analysis, and risk assessments.
• Support prototype development, testing, commissioning, and installation, including FAT and SAT.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and system performance issues and implement solutions.
• Ensure designs meet safety standards, customer specifications, and industry regulations.
• Prepare technical documentation, operating manuals, and engineering change requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8‑10 years of experience designing custom automation solutions for industrial applications.
• Strong understanding of machine design, pneumatics, hydraulics, servo systems, and motion control.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication and project management skills.

Required skills

• SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD or similar 3D CAD software.
