Mechanical Designer – Advanced UAS & Sensor Systems

About the role
Teledyne Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Designer to develop advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and sensor technologies. The role involves turning concepts into manufacturable designs and supporting the product through prototyping, analysis, and production.
Key responsibilities
- Design plastic, metal, and multi‑material components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Create and maintain master models and production‑ready 2D drawings.
- Build and test prototypes with rapid methods such as 3D printing.
- Perform engineering analyses (stress, thermal, airflow, loads) to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, quality, and reliability teams.
- Research and apply new technologies for UAS and ruggedised systems.
- Support verification activities, fixture design, and product testing.
- Lead design reviews, manage file releases, and assist with production troubleshooting.
Required profile
- Strong SolidWorks proficiency (3D modeling, assemblies, master models, drawings).
- Ability to work independently and apply prior design experience to new projects.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal, casting, and welding.
- Experience conducting engineering analyses and making trade‑off decisions.
- Background in prototype validation and product testing.
- Capability to manage timelines, quality standards, and design releases.
