Mechanical and Assembly Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical and Assembly Engineer to join our Edmonton team. You will support the design, prototyping, manufacturing and testing of vacuum‑based and micro‑analysis products for our MEMS, nanotechnology and photonics portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype and manufacture devices and components for vacuum and ultra‑high vacuum applications.
• Provide mechanical design and assembly support across multiple product lines.
• Develop product testing processes for prototypes using Design of Experiments.
• Perform feasibility assessments and design checks with 3‑D modelling and FEA.
• Create manufacturing and assembly plans for small‑ and medium‑size product families.
• Support product installations, customer service and after‑sales activities.
• Coordinate projects and development activities to ensure delivery excellence.

Required profile

• BSc/MSc/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience.
• Eligibility to work as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Alberta.
• Proven experience with mechanical design, CAD tools and manufacturing drawings.
• Hands‑on skills with mechanics, hand tools, subtractive and additive manufacturing, electronics assembly and high/ultra‑high vacuum systems.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced technical environment and communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
