Matte Painter – Onsite Position

About the role

ICON Creative Studio is seeking a skilled Matte Painter to join its on‑site creative team in Vancouver. You will be responsible for producing high‑quality matte paintings that integrate seamlessly into the visual language of feature‑length and episodic CG projects for major streaming platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Create visually compelling matte paintings using raw painting, photo‑bashing, render‑bashing, and hybrid techniques.
• Incorporate feedback from team members and revise work to meet project objectives.
• Own your tasks and deliver them on schedule to support overall production deadlines.
• Stay updated on industry trends, new techniques, and emerging technologies in animation and matte painting.
• Identify and communicate project issues, contributing to collaborative problem‑solving.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience creating high‑quality digital matte paintings in various art styles.
• Strong grasp of art fundamentals such as perspective, composition, color, value and lighting.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Detail‑oriented, highly organized, self‑motivated and eager to learn.
