Managing Director, Total Portfolio Strategy and Innovation

About the role

OPTrust is seeking a senior leader to head its Total Portfolio Strategy and Innovation function within the Office of the Chief Investment Officer. Reporting to the CIO, you will drive the integration of technology, advanced analytics, and innovative thinking to enhance portfolio outcomes in a rapidly changing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the CIO’s Strategic Innovation Portfolio, prioritising projects that build internal capability and mitigate disruption risks.
• Allocate scarce resources efficiently across the total portfolio, aligning with macro‑economic, geopolitical, and technological trends.
• Collaborate with investment teams and internal business partners to embed technology, analytics, and risk insights into investment strategy.
• Identify and develop strategic partnerships that accelerate innovation and improve decision‑making.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of innovative solutions that support total‑portfolio objectives.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in investment management, portfolio strategy, or related fields.
• Strong track record of leading innovation initiatives and managing cross‑functional teams.
• Deep understanding of macro‑economic, geopolitical, and technological forces affecting investment portfolios.
• Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
