Manager, Transportation Operations

About the role

The Manager, Transportation Operations leads daily transportation and dispatch activities for CommerceLink Logistics, ensuring safe, efficient and on‑time delivery of shipments. This position provides direction to dispatchers, drivers and support staff while handling real‑time challenges such as equipment breakdowns, accidents and staffing gaps.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and schedule the dispatch team, assigning daily workloads.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound freight flow, maintaining visibility of priorities and weekly targets.
• Recruit, train, coach and develop team members to drive continuous improvement.
• Plan staff coverage across all shifts to guarantee 24‑hour operational support.
• Assist dispatchers and front‑line supervisors in resolving day‑to‑day operational issues.
• Monitor service levels, operational metrics and KPIs, adjusting resources as needed.
• Review weekly operational reports and reallocate resources to meet demand.
• Maintain required training, certifications and act as primary contact for billing and payroll matters.
• Promote and enforce safety, compliance and company standards.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in transportation operations, dispatch management or a related field.
• College diploma or equivalent experience in logistics or transportation.
• Strong leadership, analytical and communication abilities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience with staff scheduling in variable‑volume operations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
