Manager, Strategic and Academic Initiatives

About the role

The Faculty of Health and Social Development at UBC Okanagan is seeking a Manager to lead the design and implementation of its strategic and academic initiatives. Reporting directly to the Dean, the role oversees complex projects, streamlines processes, and builds internal and external partnerships to advance the faculty’s vision.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and monitor large‑scale strategic projects in partnership with the Dean, Associate Deans and school directors.
• Design and implement policies, systems and procedures that support academic programs and operational efficiency.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the administrative team, including supervision of Professional/Research Graduate Support Administrators.
• Manage risk, identify barriers, and propose systematic solutions across multiple faculty units.
• Prepare governance materials, reports and summaries for senior leadership.
• Facilitate change‑management activities and communication with diverse stakeholder groups.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience leading organization‑wide strategic projects within a university or similar complex environment.
• Proven ability to supervise staff, manage performance and drive process improvements.
• Strong knowledge of faculty, university and government policies and procedures.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with internal and external partners.
