Manager of Roads & Solid Waste

About the role

The City of Woodstock is seeking a Manager of Roads & Solid Waste to lead and coordinate municipal road operations and solid waste services. This senior role oversees staff, service contracts, and strategic planning to ensure safe, effective, and compliant delivery of essential infrastructure services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for all municipal road activities, including maintenance, snow removal, street repairs, bridges, culverts, and stormwater infrastructure.
• Manage solid waste collection, recycling programs, and disposal services across the city.
• Supervise and develop staff, ensuring proper training and performance standards.
• Oversee service contracts, negotiate terms, and monitor vendor performance.
• Develop and manage budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with city objectives.
• Ensure compliance with provincial and municipal regulations related to roads, waste, and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with other city departments and external stakeholders to support integrated public works initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in municipal road or solid waste operations.
• Strong understanding of public works regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance.
• Ability to manage budgets, contracts, and multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Excellent strategic planning and problem‑solving capabilities.
