Manager, Communications & Media Relations

About the role

The Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) is seeking a Manager, Communications & Media Relations to lead its public voice. Reporting to the Director, Communications & Stakeholder Relations, you will shape external narratives, safeguard reputation, and guide a multidisciplinary team of five professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute media relations strategies, cultivating relationships with journalists and identifying storytelling opportunities.
• Monitor industry trends, anticipate reputational risks, and design response strategies for emerging issues.
• Advise senior leadership, draft high‑stakes messaging, and brief executive spokespeople for public engagements.
• Design and implement integrated, multi‑channel communications programs that align with RECO’s operational mandates.
• Partner with legal, compliance, and customer service teams to translate complex regulatory frameworks into clear communications.
• Lead the creation and strategic alignment of key corporate documents such as the Annual Report, Business Plans, and AGM materials.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading communications or media‑relations teams in a regulated or public‑sector environment.
• Strong advisory skills with a track record of supporting senior executives on high‑visibility issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, capable of crafting clear, strategic messages.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining alignment with internal priorities.
