Maintenance Technician III

About the role

The Maintenance Technician III supports FedEx’s industrial material‑handling equipment by delivering preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. The role combines mechanical, electrical, PLC/control, and welding expertise to keep conveyor systems running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on material‑handling systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical power‑transmission, electrical, and PLC/control issues.
• Interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, manufacturer manuals, and engineering specifications.
• Respond to sort‑call alerts, diagnose problems, and execute repairs.
• Enter and retrieve data using Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software.
• Assist lower‑level technicians and develop scopes of work for small‑scale projects.
• Adhere to safety standards, attend safety meetings, and address safety concerns.
• Work a flexible schedule, including all days and shifts as required.

Required profile

• Proficiency in mechanical power transmission concepts (gear ratios, horsepower, frame size).
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and ability to use a digital multimeter.
• Working knowledge of PLC programming, EEPROM burning, and industrial networks such as ControlNet and DeviceNet.
• Welding/fabrication experience with MIG, TIG, and stick processes.
• Ability to read and modify mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Commitment to safety and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
