Maintenance Mechanic (Ottawa)

About the role

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support a National Museum in Ottawa. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and plumbing equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Key responsibilities

• Perform shift tours, log readings, and start‑up/shut‑down of major building equipment.
• Conduct water‑treatment duties, diesel, fire‑alarm, and life‑safety tests.
• Maintain major fans, AHUs, chillers, heat pumps, compressors, and perform minor repairs.
• Execute preventative maintenance tasks via the CMMS system and respond to client trouble calls.
• Verify subcontractor work quality and report daily operations to the Project Manager.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with HVAC and mechanical systems or an equivalent Ontario trade qualification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Reliability clearance (Canadian citizen or permanent resident of at least 5 years).
• Wage rate follows the 787 Union Agreement schedule.

Required skills
