About the role
The Institute for Ethics and the Common Good invites scholars to join a 2027‑28 Faculty Fellowship focused on the intersection of love and ethics. Fellows will reside at the University of Notre Dame for the academic year, conducting independent research while engaging with a vibrant interdisciplinary community.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute a substantial research project examining love and ethics.
- Participate actively in seminars, workshops, and collaborative events organized by the fellowship cohort.
- Contribute scholarly insights to interdisciplinary discussions and publications.
- Engage with faculty, post‑doctoral scholars, independent researchers, journalists, and artists within the program.
Required profile
- Scholars with a strong record of research in any discipline (philosophy, theology, psychology, sociology, law, literature, arts, etc.).
- Open to faculty at any career stage, post‑doctoral researchers, independent scholars, journalists, or artists whose work aligns with the theme.
- Applicants from the United States and abroad, representing diverse faith traditions and cultural backgrounds.
Required skills
What we offer
- Up to $80,000 in fellowship funding.
- Subsidized on‑campus housing and a research allowance.
- Access to a dynamic interdisciplinary community and regular scholarly events.
- Opportunity to reside at Notre Dame for the full academic year (August‑May) or the Fall semester.
