Long Haul Truck Driver

About the role

GB TRANSPORT LTD. is seeking a reliable long‑haul truck driver to join its Edmonton team. You will operate straight or articulated trucks on national and international routes, ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods while maintaining high standards of customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and adjust routes using GPS and other navigation tools to minimise fuel use and emissions.
• Load, unload, tarp, and secure cargo, handling items up to 23 kg.
• Perform pre‑trip, en‑route and post‑trip inspections, including tires, brakes, lights and cold‑storage equipment.
• Conduct emergency roadside repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Obtain special permits and required documentation for cross‑border shipments.
• Communicate with central dispatch, record hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• Address customer complaints and provide professional service.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation.
• 7 months to less than 1 year of long‑haul driving experience.
• Valid Class 1 (or A) driver’s licence with AZ class endorsement and air‑brake endorsement.
• Valid passport, clean driving record, criminal‑record check and drug test.
• Physically able to sit for long periods and lift up to 50 lb.
• Organised, reliable team player.

Required skills

• AZ class licence.
• Air‑brakes endorsement.
• Class 1 (or A) driver’s licence.
• Proficient use of GPS and navigation equipment.
• Knowledge of bill of lading, driver logbook and inspection reports.
