Line Cook - R&D

About the role

R&D, a Michelin-recognized restaurant in Toronto's Chinatown, is looking for a Line Cook. The cook prepares dishes with passion and precision, following the standards of the kitchen and the chef, and contributes to a team of culinary innovators. The position is listed as part-time.

Key responsibilities

• Perform delegated tasks from the Sous Chef, Chef and/or General Manager
• Prepare food for the event space according to O&B standards
• Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications
• Maintain a prep list of station duties and follow the FIFO method to keep food fresh
• Assist with food inventory and control, and help receive and store deliveries
• Clean prep areas, equipment and utensils, and follow sanitation, food safety and hygiene guidelines
• Follow WHMIS and MSDS guidelines
• Other duties as assigned

Required profile

• 1-2 years of cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant or event/catering environment
• Ability to take direction and work calmly under pressure
• Able to spend 100% of the time standing
• Available weekends, evenings and holidays
• Full-time position
• Legally eligible to work in Canada

Required skills

• Basic understanding of professional cooking
• Knife handling skills
• Culinary diploma or degree is an asset

Wage: $20-$24 per hour.
