Limited-Term Assistant Professor in Physical Geography (10‑Month)

About the role

Nipissing University seeks a motivated scholar for a 10‑month Limited‑Term Assistant Professor appointment in Physical Geography, beginning August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will join the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Geography and will be expected to teach on‑campus in North Bay, Ontario.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver six undergraduate courses per year, including GEOL 1006, GEOL 1007, ENSC 2116, and three electives from a prescribed list.
• Develop and deliver curriculum that emphasizes quantitative methods, hands‑on learning, and inquiry‑based pedagogy.
• Contribute to the department’s research and service missions, particularly in areas linking biophysical systems with human processes.
• Engage with students through mentorship, advising, and assessment.

Required profile

• Completed PhD in Physical Geography, Earth Sciences, or a closely related discipline (or near completion).
• Demonstrated effectiveness in undergraduate teaching; graduate teaching experience is an asset.
• Research interests aligned with core areas such as hydrology, climate change impacts, geomorphology, watershed systems, or environmental monitoring.
