Limited Duration Grade 4/5 Teacher (1.0 FTE)

About the role

The School District No. 57 is seeking a dedicated Grade 4/5 teacher for Ron Brent Elementary School on a limited‑duration contract. This full‑time position (1.0 FTE) focuses on delivering the BC Ministry of Education curriculum while integrating assessment‑for‑learning and trauma‑informed practices.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instruction for Grade 4 and 5 students in line with the redesigned BC curriculum.
• Implement assessment strategies that support learning and inform instruction.
• Integrate local Indigenous culture, First Nations principles, and Truth and Reconciliation concepts into lessons.
• Design experiential and inquiry‑based learning opportunities.
• Support students’ social and emotional development through dedicated SEL programming.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment and manage classroom logistics.
• Collaborate with colleagues, families, and community partners.
• Utilise technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Required profile

• Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or proof of application) and eligibility for TRB membership.
• Evidence of experience teaching Grade 4/5 and using assessment‑for‑learning strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to embed Indigenous cultural content and follow Truth and Reconciliation principles.
• Experience with experiential, inquiry‑based, and SEL instructional approaches.
• Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
• Commitment to collaborative team work and inclusive education.
• Current, valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel as needed.
