Limited Duration Contract Teacher (0.8 FTE) for K‑7 Grades

About the role

This position is a 0.8 FTE limited‑duration contract teaching a mix of grades and programs (ELL, Prep, Learning Assistance, and Grades 3‑4) at Southridge Elementary School in Prince George, BC. The role supports an inclusive, trauma‑informed learning environment and integrates local Indigenous culture.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver instruction for English Language Learners, Prep, Learning Assistance, and Grades 3‑4 according to the BC curriculum.
• Design and implement assessment‑for‑learning strategies.
• Integrate Indigenous cultural knowledge and Truth and Reconciliation principles into lessons.
• Incorporate experiential, inquiry‑based, and technology‑enhanced learning activities.
• Support students’ social and emotional development.
• Collaborate with school staff, families, and community partners.
• Maintain classroom organization, management, and a positive learning environment.

Required profile

• Eligibility for membership in the BC Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch.
• Valid BC Teaching Certificate (or proof of application) and, if conditional, a TRB letter outlining steps to permanent certification.
• Knowledge of the redesigned BC curriculum and core competencies.
• Experience with assessment strategies, trauma‑informed practice, and inclusive teaching.
• Demonstrated ability to embed Indigenous culture and experiential learning.
• Strong classroom management and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to integrating technology into instruction.
• Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required.

• Relocation allowance up to $1,000 for moves within BC, $1,500 for moves from AB, SK & MB, and $2,000 for moves from other provinces.
