Legal Counsel – Regulatory Division

About the role

Join the Regulatory Division of the Montreal Exchange, part of the TMX group, as a Legal Counsel. You will provide expert legal guidance on market integrity rules, commercial agreements, and regulatory compliance, working in a hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on the development and modification of market integrity rules to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Negotiate, draft, and interpret commercial agreements, offering contractual advice to division services.
• Review and draft internal policies and procedures in collaboration with division teams.
• Provide legal support to ensure division services meet regulatory obligations.
• Monitor and analyze developments in derivatives law and financial market regulation.

Required profile

• Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar.
• 4 to 8 years of experience in derivatives law and financial market regulation.
• Bilingual in English and French.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory and operational aspects of derivatives trading.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and representation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and thrive in a changing environment.
