Legal Counsel – Litigation

About the role

Ontario Power Generation is seeking a dynamic Litigation Counsel to provide strategic legal advice and support across regulatory, energy, and commercial matters. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, you will work closely with senior management and executive teams to protect the organization’s interests.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, timely legal advice on regulatory, energy and commercial litigation matters.
• Monitor statutory changes, case law, and evolving legal strategies relevant to OPG’s business.
• Research, analyze, and resolve complex legal issues, offering risk‑based solutions.
• Educate business partners on legal developments affecting their areas.
• Maintain effective file management and work practices.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels.
• Represent OPG with external parties, including shareholders, government bodies, financial institutions, and opposing counsel.

Required profile

• LLB (or JD) and a current membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
• 3‑5 years of litigation experience, preferably in regulatory, energy or commercial contexts.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
