Legal Counsel – Aviation Industry

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Legal Counsel to join IATA’s Legal Services and Corporate Secretary team. The role supports the organisation’s standard‑setting, programmes and industry activities, providing commercial and regulatory advice across a global aviation environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on commercial, operational, regulatory and governance matters related to IATA’s standards and programmes.
• Draft and review responses to legal queries, correspondence and communications.
• Prepare, negotiate and advise on agreements, contracts, governance documents and policies.
• Assist senior lawyers with disputes, claims, enforcement actions and coordinate with external counsel.
• Assess and respond to information requests from governmental authorities, regulators and law‑enforcement agencies.
• Support the legal aspects of new initiatives, programmes and industry projects.

Required profile

• Early‑career lawyer with post‑qualification experience.
• Knowledge of standard‑setting, commercial law, regulatory compliance, antitrust, competition and financial services law.
• Strong analytical and research abilities, with capacity to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
