About the role

The University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus seeks a full‑time, one‑year Lecturer to teach Canadian literature and first‑year writing courses. The position starts on September 1, 2026, or an agreed date, and involves eight teaching sections per year, including summer terms.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Canadian literature courses at second, third, and fourth‑year levels (e.g., ENGL 222, ENGL 333, ENGL 470).
• Deliver first‑year literature‑composition courses for new undergraduates.
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum review, and course design.
• Contribute to service obligations within the university and community.

Required profile

• PhD in Canadian literature, English, or a related field (ABD or extensive teaching experience considered).
• Demonstrated post‑secondary teaching experience, especially in settler Canadian literature and first‑year writing.
• Ability to teach in‑person and engage diverse student populations.
