About the role
The Royal Ontario Museum is seeking a Learning & Public Programs Intern for the Summer 2026 season. This full‑time, grant‑funded position supports the museum’s education and engagement initiatives, focusing on research, information gathering, and analysis of school programs, public learning experiences, and visitor engagement across cultural and tourism sectors.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct environmental scans of museums, galleries, science centres, and cultural organisations.
- Research and compile data on school programs, public learning experiences, and visitor engagement initiatives.
- Organise information on program formats, audiences, accessibility features, and educational offerings.
- Prepare summary documents, charts, presentations, and research materials for the Learning & Public Programs team.
- Maintain and update lists of peer organisations, community contacts, and sector resources.
- Support projects related to accessibility, inclusion, public engagement, and educational programming.
Required profile
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed post‑secondary studies in Museum Studies, Education, Recreation, Arts Administration, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong interest in museum education, public programming, and audience engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Required skills
- Research and information‑gathering abilities.
- Organisational skills for compiling and presenting data.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools).
