Lead Software Engineer (Java - SDET)

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join its AI&DPE team in Vancouver. You will help build and enhance a high‑performance, low‑latency Java platform that powers fraud detection and cardholder identity validation for billions of transactions each month.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with technical leads to design and implement innovative Java‑based capabilities for the Fraud Management Platform.
• Develop high‑throughput, low‑latency solutions using a multi‑tiered, message‑oriented architecture.
• Participate in a co‑located Agile Scrum team, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Define and lead Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes, ensuring comprehensive unit, system/integration, and performance test coverage.
• Document performance test strategies, create test plans, and translate complex system requirements into testable specifications.

Required profile

• Strong technical background with experience building high‑performance applications.
• Passion for writing production code as well as the automated tests that validate it.
• Commitment to making a tangible impact on fraud prevention worldwide.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, Agile environment.
