Lead Software Engineer – Event Framework Team

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Event Framework team. You will design and build large‑scale, highly resilient distributed systems using event‑driven and reactive architectures, helping to power secure and inclusive digital payments worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement large‑scale, resilient distributed systems based on event‑driven and reactive patterns.
• Write, enhance, and maintain production‑grade applications and services, conduct code reviews, and follow best‑practice engineering standards.
• Collaborate with product teams to prioritize work, evaluate trade‑offs, and shape technical direction.
• Automate development, testing, deployment, and monitoring pipelines.
• Run proof‑of‑concepts for emerging technologies and architectural approaches.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, including guidance on coding patterns and AI‑assisted tooling.
