Lead Engineer - Municipal Treatment Systems

About the role

Veolia's Water Tech Business is hiring a Lead Engineer in Oakville to deliver multi-disciplinary engineering for custom and extended municipal treatment systems. The Lead Engineer determines the resources needed and guides a multi-disciplinary team so that designs are accurate, submittals are on time, the engineering budget is respected and quality is maintained. The Lead Engineer, Project Manager and Sourcing Project Leader form a project leadership team that manages the project end-to-end.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and monitor an engineering team of Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls engineers, plus document control, sourcing and finance support functions
• Optimize technical solutions within contractual constraints and perform detailed calculations and equipment selection
• Own the project engineering strategy, including staffing, scheduling and outsourcing when required
• Lead technical coordination meetings and assign and oversee technical activities across disciplines
• Ensure peer review is completed and that all E-tables and design reviews are done for each discipline
• Serve as the primary technical interface with customers, resolve technical issues and drive customer approvals of deliverables
• Coordinate follow-up on customer comments with the Document Controller and proactively identify technical risks and opportunities with the Project Manager and Sourcing Project Leader

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in an accredited engineering field
• Five to eight years of project experience in engineering or a related field
• Preferred: experience with EPC contracts, a Professional Engineer's license (or ability to obtain one within 1 year), and French and/or Spanish
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally 5-10% of the time
