Labourer 3

About the role

The Labourer 3 joins UBC’s Municipal Services team on the Vancouver campus, supporting hard‑landscape maintenance, road and sidewalk repair, and general campus clean‑up. Working in the Streets Operations crew, you will operate a variety of specialised equipment while following safety and sustainability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance of hard landscapes, roads, sidewalks, storm drains and water features using specialised equipment.
• Perform construction and maintenance tasks on structures, pipelines and drainage systems.
• Operate light, medium and heavy vehicles and equipment such as power washers, jack hammers, bobcats, boom lifts and pallet jacks.
• Monitor and, when required, supervise a small group of labourers to ensure work is performed safely and correctly.
• Respond to weather‑related events, working evenings, weekends or overnight as needed.

Required profile

• Secondary school education (or equivalent) and a valid BC driver’s licence.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and willingness to respect diverse perspectives.
• Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Capability to follow policies, procedures and instructions, both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Operation of power washers.
• Operation of backpack blowers.
• Operation of jack hammers and tampers.
• Operation of concrete vibrators and coring/cutting equipment.
• Operation of bobcats, boom lifts, scissor lifts and pallet jacks.
• Valid BC driver’s licence.
