About the role

The Waste Management crew at UBC is looking for three Labourer 3 team members to support recycling, composting, litter reduction and special event services across the Vancouver campus. This permanent, onsite position involves physical work, operation of vehicles and specialised equipment, and adherence to safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate campus vehicles and specialised construction/maintenance equipment safely.
• Assist with waste collection, recycling, composting and special‑item recycling initiatives.
• Support campus events by providing moving, set‑up and clean‑up services.
• Perform routine maintenance on waste‑management tools and equipment.
• Work in severe weather, confined spaces and at heights while complying with WorkSafeBC standards.

Required profile

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift moderate loads.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team.
• Flexibility to respond to urgent service requests and event schedules.
