Laboratory Assistant (Float) – Full Time

About the role

Dynacare is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Assistant (Float) to join its team in the Greater Toronto Area. You will work on‑site in Scarborough and Markham, providing high‑quality specimen collection and supporting patient testing while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens from patients using venipuncture and other collection techniques.
• Perform ECGs, Holter monitor hookups, paternity, urine, drug, and breath‑alcohol collections.
• Sort and label specimens, ensure proper documentation, and prepare them for transport to the laboratory.
• Enter patient and test data accurately for Ministry of Health requisitions.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to SOPs and regulatory standards.
• Contribute to departmental quality metrics and compliance goals.

Required profile

• Secondary school completion and a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistance certification.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with empathy for patients.
• MLPAO/CSMLS certification is strongly recommended.
