Junior Science & Home Economics Teacher & Athletic Director

About the role

The Delta School District is seeking a motivated junior educator to teach Science, Home Economics and Foods while also serving as the Athletic Director at Sands Secondary. This full‑time, continuing position supports the district’s commitment to inclusive, innovative learning experiences for over 15,900 students.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one block of ADST 8 (Home Economics) instruction.
• Teach one block of Foods 11/12.
• Provide three blocks of Science instruction for grades 9‑12.
• Serve as Athletic Director, organizing all extracurricular sports programs.
• Recruit and coordinate coaches, manage the athletic budget, track equipment, and ensure timely registration with BC School Sports.

Required profile

• Valid or pending BC Teaching Certificate.
• Relevant post‑secondary education in Science, Home Economics, or Physical Education.
• Commitment to the district’s values of compassion, responsibility, integrity, creativity, diversity, and resilience.

Required skills

• Knowledge of BC curriculum standards for Science and Home Economics.
• Understanding of BC School Sports registration processes.
• Ability to manage budgets and equipment inventories.
