Junior Design Engineer

About the role

As a Junior Design Engineer at Ashby, you will blend design thinking with hands‑on coding to shape the user experience of a high‑traffic recruiting platform. Working closely with the VP of Engineering, you will help evolve our in‑house design system while delivering polished UI that serves over 100,000 weekly active users.

Key responsibilities

• Redesign and improve the mobile web app by gathering user feedback, creating wireframes, and turning them into production‑ready UI.
• Build and maintain flexible, composable components within Ashby’s design system.
• Collaborate with product engineers to enhance information hierarchy and visual scannability of candidate assessment views.
• Consult on bespoke design work required by product teams, ensuring consistency across the product.

Required profile

• Passion for both visual design and front‑end implementation.
• Ability to communicate design decisions clearly and iterate based on user feedback.
• Interest in working on a product used by large tech customers such as Notion, Shopify, and Snowflake.
