Journeyman Electrician – Construction Projects

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Journeyperson to join our Construction Projects Division. The position is dynamic, with tasks that change week to week, and offers top wages as part of IBEW Local 424.

Key responsibilities

• Install electrical wiring, conduits, cable trays, raceways, lighting systems, switches, receptacles, and circuit breakers.
• Install distribution equipment such as panels, transformers, and switchgear, as well as underground service equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings to perform installations and inspections.
• Test electrical components, diagnose problems, and repair faulty circuits, motors, and controls while ensuring compliance with codes.
• Estimate materials and labor, order supplies, and manage project timelines.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and a valid Electrical Journeyperson certification (or eligibility) in the province.
• 2‑3 years of experience in electrical installation and maintenance, preferably in commercial or institutional settings.
• Strong attention to detail, safety focus, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s licence, reliable transportation, and ability to obtain site‑specific security clearances.

Required skills

• Electrical wiring and conduit installation.

• Use of hand tools, power tools, conduit benders and measuring instruments.
• Electrical testing, troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
