Issues & Communications Coordinator

About the role

The Issues & Communications Coordinator will support Supply Ontario by monitoring, analysing, and reporting on media coverage relevant to its programs and procurement activities. This permanent, full‑time position is based in downtown Toronto and works closely with the communications team and senior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Daily monitoring of local, provincial, national and trade media, as well as social platforms (X, Facebook, LinkedIn).
• Identify emerging issues, trends and policy developments that could affect the agency.
• Curate and organise daily electronic media scans, highlighting significant stories and flagging contentious items for the Director of Communications.
• Maintain and update search‑word databases to ensure relevant coverage.
• Collaborate with the Chief of Staff and Director of Communications to escalate emerging issues and manage FOI requests.
• Liaise with media‑monitoring vendors as needed.
• Conduct qualitative analysis of selected announcements and trending topics, producing reports on volume, source, tone and geographic scope.
• Write, edit and design communication products such as social posts, external announcements and speaking remarks.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to monitor and analyse media coverage.
• Experience supporting communications initiatives in a public‑sector or procurement environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to organise large volumes of information.
