Intermediate Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Vard Marine is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of specialized vessels such as polar research ships and offshore patrol vessels. You will work within a global team to ensure mechanical systems meet classification and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations using empirical formulae and first‑principles.
• Carry out HVAC calculations in line with industry and marine standards.
• Prepare mechanical and diagrammatic drawing packages for classification societies.
• Design propulsion driveline and shafting arrangements and conduct analysis with recognized software.
• Provide technical input to specifications, drawings and project documentation.
• Support project budgeting, schedule coordination and deliverables tracking.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in cross‑functional technical groups.

Required profile

• Applied knowledge of marine engineering systems and equipment.
• Familiarity with Classification Society Rules and Flag State Regulations.
• Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
• Willingness to take on project‑lead responsibilities on smaller projects.
