Instrument Reprocessing Technician

About the role

The Instrument Reprocessing Technician works in the Dental Clinic dispensary at UBC, ensuring that all clinical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized to support the smooth operation of dental programs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform handpiece processing, including cleaning, lubricating, and steam sterilization.
• Process bur blocks, inspect for completeness, and prepare them for sterilization.
• Conduct cold‑disinfection cycles and manage drying of instruments.
• Operate autoclaves, perform biological and chemical indicator testing, and manage instrument sterilization workflows.
• Maintain clinic, X‑ray rooms, and laboratory areas, performing related support duties as needed.

Required profile

• Attention to detail and ability to follow strict infection‑control protocols.
• Physical capability to lift, bend, stand for extended periods, and handle repetitive tasks.
• Commitment to safety and quality in a clinical environment.
