In‑Person High School Math & Science Tutor (Oakville/Burlington)

About the role

Prep Academy Tutors is seeking enthusiastic in‑person, in‑home tutors to support high‑school students in the Oakville and Burlington areas. You will deliver personalized instruction aligned with the Ontario secondary English curriculum, helping students build confidence and achieve academic success.

Key responsibilities

• Empower students with personalized academic support aligned with the Ontario secondary English curriculum.
• Help students strengthen reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay writing, grammar, vocabulary, and critical thinking.
• Prepare students for classroom assessments, culminating assignments, and exams, including OSSLT preparation where appropriate.
• Develop customized lesson plans that promote deep understanding, confidence, and academic growth.
• Provide remedial support for struggling students and enrichment opportunities for advanced learners.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, goals, and areas for improvement.

Required profile

• Current, valid registration with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or a certified teacher in Canada/US (or in process).
• Enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program or experience as a lecturer/course instructor at an accredited Canadian or U.S. college/university.
• Experience teaching or tutoring high school English (Grades 9–12) and familiarity with the Ontario English curriculum.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to students’ homes in Oakville and Burlington.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for helping students build confidence and improve performance.
