About the role
The EPI Therapist joins the B’saanibamaadwin Indigenous Mental Health and Addictions program to provide culturally safe early psychosis intervention for Indigenous youth, emerging adults and their families. The role blends Indigenous and Western knowledge to support recovery, education and wellness.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver counselling, psychotherapy, assessment, treatment planning and relapse‑prevention services using trauma‑informed, strengths‑based approaches.
- Complete intake, screening, risk and safety planning, discharge and follow‑up documentation in a timely, respectful manner.
- Provide psycho‑education and family support, facilitating understanding of psychosis, recovery and available resources.
- Participate in the NAVIGATE model, integrating individual resiliency training, family education, supported employment/education and peer support.
- Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community leaders and multidisciplinary teams across rural and virtual settings.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant human‑service discipline (Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, OT, Counselling, etc.).
- Current registration (or ability to obtain) with an Ontario regulatory college authorized to practice psychotherapy.
- Demonstrated ability to provide counselling, therapeutic interventions and crisis support to youth and families.
- Experience or strong interest in early psychosis intervention, serious mental illness, or youth mental health.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories, and the impacts of colonisation, with experience working with Indigenous communities preferred.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
- Experience using client information systems.
