In-House Legal Counsel (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an In‑House Legal Counsel to join BIS Safety Software, a SaaS company focused on safety, learning and compliance. The role can be performed remotely and reports directly to senior leadership, serving as the primary legal resource across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as SaaS subscription agreements, master service agreements, data processing agreements, vendor contracts and NDAs.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, standard clauses and fallback positions to improve consistency.
• Identify and mitigate legal, regulatory, contractual and privacy risks proactively.
• Partner with the Risk and Compliance team, providing guidance and issue analysis.
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Experience, Product, Engineering, Security and Finance to understand business operations and legal risk.
• Act as the organization’s Privacy Officer, ensuring compliance with applicable privacy and data‑protection legislation.
• Coordinate with external counsel for specialized matters, managing scope and cost‑effectiveness.
• Create and maintain legal documentation, playbooks and internal guidance to reduce repeat queries.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in corporate and commercial contracts, especially SaaS and technology agreements.
• Experience identifying and managing legal risk in a growing software business.
• Detail‑oriented, resourceful and able to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to partner cross‑functionally.

Required skills

• Drafting and negotiation of SaaS subscription agreements, MSAs, DPAs, vendor agreements and NDAs.
• Knowledge of privacy and data‑protection legislation.
• Contract template creation and clause library management.
