HVAC 313A Journeyman (Exploratory)

About the role

Black & McDonald’s Southwest Ontario team is seeking an HVAC 313A Journeyman to provide installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of HVAC equipment for customers in Hamilton and surrounding areas.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and service chillers, heat pumps, steam boilers, air handling units, fans, humidifiers, pumps, VAV boxes, motors, refrigerators and freezers.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, replace, calibrate and program HVAC control systems.
• Replace filters and belts, install new services, and recommend ordering of HVAC supplies.
• Perform preventive and demand maintenance tasks and record work on work orders.
• Respond to environmental comfort complaints and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Required profile

• Successful completion of a recognized HVAC and/or refrigeration certificate and a Skilled Trades Ontario 313A Journeyperson certification.
• Valid G1 gas license and Ontario Class G driver’s licence.
• Working knowledge of building services, HVAC control strategies, and experience troubleshooting equipment in the ICI sector.

Required skills

• HVAC control system programming and calibration.
• Installation, maintenance and repair of chillers, boilers, heat pumps and refrigeration equipment.
• Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC equipment.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and DSI platform (asset).
