Human Resources Payroll Coordinator

About the role

Marcus Evans is looking for a dynamic Human Resources Payroll Coordinator to join our Toronto office. Reporting to both the Finance Director and the Managing Director of Global Talent Acquisition & Development, you will play a key part in hiring, onboarding, payroll processing, and employee lifecycle management.

Key responsibilities

• Complete hiring and onboarding tasks, including contracts and I‑9 verification.
• Create and maintain employee profiles in ADP and internal platforms.
• Conduct new‑hire orientation, building tours, and ADP training.
• Maintain digital and physical employee files and perform required audits.
• Process payroll accurately and on schedule, analyze data, and generate reports.
• Update policies and procedures with directors and adopt new technologies.
• Monitor attendance via ADP and support performance evaluations.
• Enroll employees in benefit programs and support retention initiatives.
• Handle terminations, exit interviews, and required state‑mandated documents such as garnishments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 1‑2 years of professional HR experience.
• Familiarity with ADP payroll software.
• Knowledge of payroll processes in multiple U.S. states (IL, NY, CT, CA, FL, MI).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of HR policies, legislation, and confidentiality.
