Human Resources Generalist

About the role

We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to provide advisory and operational support for the National Tax service line in Canada. This 12‑month fixed‑term role reports to the HR Manager and serves as the primary HR contact for employees and front‑line leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the key HR point of contact, advising employees and leaders on talent management and employee experience.
• Collaborate with HR Centers of Expertise and business leaders to deliver the BDO talent experience – attract, engage and grow people.
• Enable leaders to effectively engage and develop their teams.
• Provide guidance on employee relations, engagement, performance, compensation, organizational structure, workforce planning, inclusion and diversity, development, recruitment and policy application.
• Support the delivery of the National Talent Strategy across the Tax service line.
• Prepare reporting and analytics for the HR Manager to shape the talent strategy.
• Work with the Talent Acquisition team and assist with recruitment activities as needed.
• Participate in national HR projects.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of relevant HR experience.
• Post‑secondary degree or diploma in HR with a CHRP designation completed or in progress.
• Strong advisory focus and ability to enable leaders with effective recommendations.
• Proactive problem‑solver who improves processes and manages multiple priorities in a matrix environment.
• Comfortable facilitating presentations and discussions.
