About the role
The Housing Manager leads the Yuuɔ́ŋɪ́ɔ́ŋ Housing Program, overseeing day‑to‑day operations, tenancy administration, policy implementation and strategic direction. Reporting to the Director of Capital Infrastructure & Asset Management, the role serves as the primary community contact on housing matters and liaises with the future Housing Society.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate daily housing operations, including allocations, rent collection and arrears management.
- Manage government‑rental housing stock, conduct condition assessments and oversee lifecycle planning.
- Supervise the Housing Coordinator and Tenant Relations Coordinator, set priorities and approve work plans.
- Partner with Finance to develop budgets, reconcile rent revenue and ensure accurate funder reporting.
- Support policy review and implementation aligned with the BC Residential Tenancy Act and Maa‑nulth Final Agreement.
- Handle tenancy disputes, represent the organization in formal proceedings when authorized, and maintain compliance with privacy and human‑rights legislation.
- Assist with the Five‑Year Housing Strategy, capital planning and new housing projects.
- Act as the first point of contact for community housing inquiries and represent the program at meetings and events.
Required profile
- Post‑secondary diploma or degree in Public Administration, Business, Housing Management, Social Sciences or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in housing, property management or tenancy administration, including supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of the BC Residential Tenancy Act as applied in First Nations and modern‑treaty contexts.
- Experience administering budgets and collaborating with finance teams on reporting and reconciliation.
- Satisfactory criminal record check.
