Host - Aera

About the role

Aera, a Toronto restaurant with sweeping city views, is looking for a part-time Host. Hosts create a positive guest experience from the moment guests arrive, keep the restaurant running smoothly and efficiently, and communicate with the whole team. The position is open to candidates who can work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome and seat guests warmly and professionally
• Manage reservations, walk-ins and waitlists using OpenTable
• Answer phone calls and help guests with reservations and inquiries
• Monitor table rotation and coordinate seating plans with managers, service staff and the kitchen
• Give accurate wait times and keep waiting guests informed
• Answer guest questions, handle special requests and support service recovery with a manager when needed
• Keep the host stand, entrance and welcome areas clean and presentable, and keep menus clean, up to date and well stocked
• Manage the coat check and thank guests as they leave
• Assist with bussing tables and running food and beverages as needed

Required profile

• Previous experience as a host, or in hospitality or customer service, is an asset
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organization and attention to detail
• Able to multitask and stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Professional appearance and a warm, welcoming presence
• Valid Smart Serve certification required
• Legally eligible to work in Canada

Required skills

• OpenTable or other reservation and table management systems (an asset)
• Smart Serve certification
